Song of the Week: Calming my Late 20's Angst
Des'ree gave us a multigenerational gift that keeps on giving
The 90’s classic ‘You Gotta Be’ x Des’ree is the gift that keeps on giving! It’s been on repeat in my crib all week, speaking deeply to my late 20’s angst. In the song Des’ree captures the essence of life’s natural evolution in a way that speaks directly to the soul. ‘You Gotta Be’ shares strong messaging of the natural ebs and flows of life, the do’s and don’ts, and the grace needed to carry on.
As I write this I‘m navigating some growing pains and quarter life crises, where I’m questioning everything in my life right now like: where do I want to move to next, what do I see myself doing in the next few years, who am I going to start settling down with, what is God trying to show me in my life right now, and what’s next in store for my next life chapter (just to state a few). On top of trying to forge a path and make a living for myself it’s a lot to think about y’all and I’m tiredtt. After all I’m just a girl!
But it seems like the resurfacing of this song in my Apple Music library was meant to speak to me this week. ‘You Gotta Be’ served as a message/reminder of optimism in my current moments of stagnancy and uncertainty.
Special shoutout to anyone reading this who may also be going through an uncertain time right now too. I’m sending you love, encouragement, and this song suggestion! We just gotta keep moving forward.
